The Witt Group of Laurent Polynomials

چکیده
We give a direct, self-contained proof of the fact that for a large class of rings A , in particular for all regular rings with involution, W (A[t, 1/t]) = W (A)⊕W (A) .

Witt rings of quadratically presentable fields
This paper introduces an approach to the axiomatic theory of quadratic forms based on {tmem{presentable}} partially ordered sets, that is partially ordered sets subject to additional conditions which amount to a strong form of local presentability. It turns out that the classical notion of the Witt ring of symmetric bilinear forms over a field makes sense in the context of {tmem{quadratically p...
متن کاملA Note on Boole Polynomials
Boole polynomials play an important role in the area of number theory, algebra and umbral calculus. In this paper, we investigate some properties of Boole polynomials and consider Witt-type formulas for the Boole numbers and polynomials. Finally, we derive some new identities of those poly-nomials from the Witt-type formulas which are related to Euler polynomials.
متن کاملStructure theorems for AP rings
In “New Proofs of the structure theorems for Witt Rings”, the first author shows how the standard ring-theoretic results on the Witt ring can be deduced in a quick and elementary way from the fact that the Witt ring of a field is integral and from the specific nature of the explicit annihilating polynomials he provides. We will show in the present article that the same structure results hold fo...
متن کاملFORMAL GROUP-THEORETIC GENERALIZATIONS OF THE NECKLACE ALGEBRA, INCLUDING A q-DEFORMATION
N. Metropolis and G.-C. Rota Adv. Math, 50, 1983, 95{125] studied the necklace polynomials, and were lead to deene the necklace algebra as a combinatorial model for the classical ring of Witt vectors (which corresponds to the multiplicative formal group law X + Y ? XY). In this paper, we deene and study a generalized necklace algebra, which is associated with an arbitrary formal group law F ove...
